Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-07-21
These terms govern your use of FastECU NextGen, the cross-platform desktop application for reading, writing, and tuning Subaru ECUs/TCUs (the "Software"), and the account/billing system at this site (the "Service"), operated by MakerShop, business ID 2773224-4, registered at Ihastjärventie 40 B, 50970 Mikkeli, Finland ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Software, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy and Usage Policy. These terms do not apply to the original open-source FastECU (Qt/C++) desktop application, which is licensed separately under the GPLv3.
1. The Service
The Software runs entirely on hardware you control - it communicates directly with your own vehicle's ECU/TCU over a cable you connect yourself. This site provides account registration/login, plan/billing management, and the license key the Software uses to check your subscription status.
2. Your account
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your password and license key confidential. You're responsible for all activity registered under your account and license key.
3. Plans and billing
- New accounts start on a 14-day Trial, from the date the account was created - not renewable by downgrading back to it.
- Paid plans (Basic, Pro, Enterprise) are billed monthly or annually through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can cancel or change your plan at any time from your account page or Stripe's Billing Portal; access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Prices shown on the account page are informational - the amount actually charged is whatever Stripe Price is configured for your plan/interval at checkout time.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis - contact us at info@fastecu.fi.
4. License key
Your license key lets the Software check your subscription status. It's for your own use - not for sharing, reselling, or pooling across accounts you don't control. Deliberately working around the subscription check (e.g. bypassing it to read/write an ECU without an active plan) is a breach of these terms - see our Usage Policy for specifics.
5. Vehicle and ECU risk
Reading, writing, and tuning a vehicle's ECU/TCU carries real risk: an interrupted or incorrect write can render an ECU inoperable ("bricked"), and calibration changes can affect emissions compliance, drivability, warranty coverage, and road-legal status depending on your jurisdiction. You use the Software entirely at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damage to your vehicle, ECU, or TCU, or for any consequence of a calibration you create or apply.
6. Acceptable use
Use of the Service and Software is subject to our Usage Policy, which is part of these terms.
7. Availability
The Software runs on your own computer and communicates directly with your own vehicle, so its core operation doesn't depend on this Service being available. We make a reasonable effort to keep the account/billing Service available but don't guarantee uninterrupted uptime.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Software and Service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Software or Service, including damage to a vehicle, ECU, or TCU. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or the Usage Policy, with notice where reasonably possible.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above; continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland.
