2001 WRX EDM don't manage to Read ECU

Hello, I need some help

I'm trying to read my ECU on a 2001 EDM WRX for a few days (weeks maybe ?) and i don't manage to do it.
The last owner had it tuned by a friend of his but i don't know how. I only know that the tune is pretty bad !

I've tried with ECUflash, and EcuExplorer with no success.

I have a OBD2 cable that work with FreeSSM and a Tactrix clone that work with the RomRaider logger.

I thought that the problem could come from my Tactrix clone cable or from an Ecutek lock on the ECU.

That's when i discovered FastECU. I was pleased to see that it could work with an OBD cable and also remove the Ecutek lock.
Sadly, i'm still not able to read my ECU (but i can log on FastECU with both cables).

I've tested a bunch of different protocols with no success

Before you ask, yes the green plugs are connected and the car is going in test mode (tested with and without) and the jumper cable on the white connector is also in.

Here's the two best tries i've done, but usually it fails even quicker. It's seems that the software (FastECU, ECUflash...) doesn't connect quick enough to my ECU and it directly goes in Test mode (fans and fuel pump turning).

I've tried turning the ignition on before, at the same time, after (everything) clicking on OK to start the Read with no luck so far.

If you have any idea, cause i'm pretty much out of option on my side

Also note that these ECUs need additional voltage pulse when accessing ECU reading/programming mode so need to use J2534 cable like Tactrix OpenPort 2 or other passthru interface.

Yes it should work. If you can log with that tactrix, it should be ok.

I guess it's the Tactrix Clone that doesn't work. Any way to check it ? Or any idea where i can find one that would work ? (Tactrix one is expensive but it's not even avaible)

One thing you can test is to use unisia jecs 20/30 bootmode protocol. When first messagebox appears you can use multimeter to measure OBD pin 9 and 11 against GND pin, both should read ~12v.

This way you can see if the pin control work. It uses ~200ms pulse + message to jump to bootloader, so another question is does it work properly.

I've tested it and it seems to not be working.

I've find a used original Tactrix, hopefully it was only the clone that was causing all the issues ! I'll keep you updated when i received it.

Finally had time to test the real Tactrix and it worked !!!
