unable to find definition for selected rom file

Post by MayaVivs »

I just pulled the rom from my 2011 usdm wrx hatchback and ecuFlash and Fast ecu could not interpret my rom. Does anyone have any recomendations on what to do? FastEcu says my ecuID is 7412187407, which seems to somewhat match other 2011 cars.

Hi,

This file does not look like ROM file... Which software did you use to dump it?

I used FastECU with the "sub_ecu_denso_sh7058_can" kernel with a generic cable. The full read took around 30 minutes. I also found that the "Ecu ID" area was now reading the correct 7412587407 which refrences the AE5IB40L cal-ID. I just pulled a new rom that I attached below.

You need J2534 cable like Tactrix OpenPort 2 to use CAN protocols. Generic OBD2 cables can do only K-Line communication. ROM download should take like 90s max with all the initializations and kernel uploads.

SSM init works also via K-Line in these ECUs so you can get ECU ID and log via K-Line with generic OBD2 cable.
